Running Sunglasses FAQs

Should running sunglasses be polarized or not?

In short, this will depend mostly on your typical running environment and conditions! Polarization in sunglasses minimizes glaring light, whether from direct sunlight, a wet road in the bright sun, snow, windows, water, or any type of reflective surface. It’s important to note that glare isn’t only a problem on sunny days; polarization improves clarity on overcast days as well as clear ones.

One thing to note is that polarized lenses might have a minimal effect on depth perception in lower lighting. However, this is likely a larger concern for traveling at increased speeds, such as with cycling.

For more on what polarization is about, check out the section on polarized lenses in our blog, Running Sunglasses Buyer’s Guide.

Where can I find prescription running glasses?

Nighttime runners and those who prefer to run in lower lighting conditions can benefit from prescription running glasses, and you can find a variety of options for frames and lens tech at SportRx.com. All SportRx lenses include UVA/UVB protection, which is critical for preventing eye damage such as cataracts.

Most sunglass frames at SportRx may be customized with clear prescription lenses. This means you can enjoy all of the performance features of a sport sunglass but with crystal clear lenses. Call us at (888) 831–5817 to speak with a Sports Optician about prescription running glasses that fit your needs and we’ll be happy to help.

How much do Oakley prescription sunglasses cost?

Oakley prescription sunglasses will vary in price based on the lens tech, frame type, and prescription measurements. For this reason, there is no set price for how much Oakley prescription sunglasses cost. The price can start at around $150 and increase from there.

When looking online at SportRx.com, you can sort all prescription-ready Oakley frames by using the “Prescription Ready” toggle switch, as well as sorting by price from low to high. You can also sort by your sport! This should help you know where to start when looking for a pair of prescription Oakley running sunglasses.
