Can I try on frames locally?

You have three options to try on different styles of frames.

First, please feel free to drop by our showroom in San Diego where one of our opticians would be happy to help you fit and select a frame style that is perfect for you.

Second, you can use our test ride program. Our test ride program allows prescription wearers the opportunity to try on a specific frame before purchasing the prescription. All you will pay for this service is the nonprescription frame price, and we cover the shipping to and from you. If you decide that you like the frame and want to order the prescription, just send the frames back to us along with a copy of your prescription and pupil distance and we will make the lenses for you! If you do not like the way the frame fits, looks, or feels on your face, just send the frames back to us for a full refund to your credit card account. Please note that, should you order, some frames may not require you to send the entire frame back to us, as we have several models available that have the interchangeable lens option.

Finally, because we only carry the best brands, our frames are often available at many retail outlets. Please visit the manufacturer’s web site and enter your zip code to find a dealer near you.

Can you do bifocals and progressive lenses?

Yes, bifocals and progressives can be done in most any frame we carry.

FSA / Flex: Can I use my Flex spending insurance account to buy glasses?

FSA / Flex: I have FSA dollars to spend by the end of the year ( / end of the month / end of today). By when do I need to place my order?

You will need to place your order by 11:59pm Pacific Time on the last day you are allowed to use your funds.  If you’re using a payment credit card issued by your FSA, please contact us immediately after placing your order to process your payment before the deadline.

FSA / Flex: What is a Flexible Spending Account?

Some companies have Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) which allows their employees to set aside pre-tax money to spend on healthcare expenses.

Gift Card: Can I return a gift card?

No, gift cards may not be returned or refunded.

Gift Card: Do gift cards expire?

No, gift cards do not expire.

Gift Card: Can I receive a gift card in the mail?

No. Gift Cards will be instantly sent to their recipient’s inbox on the desired date that you choose.

Gift Card: Can I use a gift card to purchase a gift card?

No, gift cards may not be used to purchase a gift card.

Gift Card: How do I check the balance on my gift card?

On the bottom of every page there is an option to Check Card Balance. You will then be asked to enter the code and will immediately be told your balance.

Fill out the desired amount you wish to gift, insert the recipient’s name and their email address. If you choose to, insert a custom message and a particular date in which the gift card will be sent. Add the gift card to your cart and continue to proceed with your checkout.

Gift Card: How do I redeem a gift card?

When you view your Cart, you will see (in the bottom left-hand corner) an option to “Use Gift Card to Check Out”. After checking that box, another box will appear for you to enter your gift card code. Then you can proceed to checkout and finish your purchase.

Gift Card: What happens if I do not use all the funds on my gift card?

Remaining funds will stay on the gift card. Keep your redemption code to use for future SportRx purchases.

How do I submit my prescription?

Our website will walk you through your purchase. There will be a place where you can upload your prescription when placing your order. You are also welcome to email us a copy at [email protected] or fax it to 858-571-0580. A scanned copy or simply snapping a picture of your prescription will work just fine. If you have any questions, you can always call us at 888-831-5817.

How do insurance reimbursements work?

At SportRx we are happy to help you get reimbursed for your prescription eyewear by your insurance provider. We will provide an itemized receipt for you to submit to your insurance company. Most companies will reimburse you the designated allowance for prescription eyewear with this documentation. Please check the terms on your insurance agreement for amounts and in-network vs. out-of-network coverage. We also accept Flex Spending and HSA dollars Still have questions? How long does it take before I receive my eyewear and what shipping options are available?

We generally say 2-3 weeks, but depending on your prescription, frame and lens selections you may want to give or take a few days. Please see below:

Standard shipping: Delivered to your doorstep 2 – 3 weeks from order date. FREE
Rush shipping: Standard processing, ships via overnight service. $30.00
International Shipping FedEx:   $40.00

**Please note that SportRx does not guarantee delivery within these time frames and cannot be held responsible for late delivery due to weather or mechanical delays by the carrier.

SportRx will also not be responsible for packages lost, stolen, or damaged after delivery by the carrier. This includes packages ran over, eaten by your pets, neighbors pets, or wild animals.

How long is my prescription valid?

Most prescriptions are valid for two years unless your doctor specified that it is valid for only one year. If there is no expiration on your RX, then it is good for two years from the date of the exam.

I have my contact lens prescription. Can I use it to order glasses?

No, prescriptions for contacts and glasses are different. You will need a prescription from your doctor that is specific to glasses.

I have ordered from SportRx in the past, my frames are still in good condition but my prescription has changed. Can I send my frames in to have new lenses put in them?

Absolutely! As long as your frames in are in good condition and are free of any stress cracks or broken parts we are happy to put your new prescription in them for you. The price for this starts at $75.00 and may increase depending on the options you select. I placed an order but my card hasn’t been charged. Did my order go through?

When an order is placed, we process a $0 authorization to verify the validity of the payment method. We will charge your payment for the full amount of your order when the order is ready for shipping.

I'm having trouble placing my order online. What should I do?

You can call our customer service at 888-831-5817 between 6:00am - 6:00 pm PST M-F and weekends 8:00 am-4:00 pm PST. We will be happy to assist you.

I'm supposed to buy ANSI certified glasses. What does that mean?

ANSI certified glasses would fall under the category of safety glasses. SportRx does carry a wide variety of ANSI certified eyewear.

Prescription Goggles: Can I order just the prescription insert by itself for goggles I already own?

The answer is YES! (We love the word yes.) You certainly can order just prescription lens inserts for your goggles. We’ve designed a variety of prescription goggle inserts that will fit virtually any snow or MX goggle out there. Just call up one of our friendly opticians and they will be happy to help you find the perfect prescription goggle insert for you!

Prescription Goggles: Prescription Goggle Inserts vs. Over-the-Glasses (OTG) Goggles

An optician would recommend prescription goggle inserts over OTG goggles any day. Hands down. And here’s why: prescription goggle inserts have far superior anti-fog capabilities, there is no temple pressure and are way more comfortable than squeezing your glasses underneath your goggles, prescription goggle inserts stay optically aligned and in-place so you don’t have to mess with ‘em while you’re riding, and they are far safer than having glass lenses next to your eyes when you’re bombing down slopes and hitting the dunes. Plus, if you take a spill, you don’t risk damaging your everyday eyeglasses when you’re wearing a prescription goggle insert!

What can I do if my prescription is outside of the listed available range?

Keep in mind that these parameters aren’t written in stone.  Just give us a call! Special orders, such as high prescriptions are handled on a case-by-case basis, and our opticians can help you regarding your prescription and any special requests or questions you may have.

What do I need before placing an order for prescription glasses?

You need a valid prescription done within the last two years.  We also need your pupil distance please.

What happens if I'm not happy with my new glasses?

We stand behind our work! If you’re not 100% satisfied with your glasses, you can return them within 45 days of receipt for a full refund, or credit towards a new pair. Your glasses, accessories and packaging must be in the original condition. If you are outside of the 45 days, call and ask to speak with a sales representative. If your prescription changes within 60 days of receipt, we offer a one-time replacement option.

What if I don't see the frame that I want?

Feel free to contact us directly at 888-831-5817.  We have access to most frames on the market today.

What is a PD?

Pupillary Distance, or PD, is the distance between the centers of each eye. Knowing your pupillary distance is an important piece of information when buying glasses. If this measurement is not on current your prescription, just call the last place that performed your eye exam or watch our helpful video here to measure your PD at home.

What is the difference between American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM) safety certifications?

ASTM is a globally recognized leader in the development and delivery of international voluntary consensus standards. ASTM rated frames are for sports like basketball and football. ANSI oversees the creation, promulgation and use of thousands of norms and guidelines that directly impact businesses in nearly every sector. ANSI rated frames are safety rated for military and construction type safety eyewear.

Why do I need to send a copy of my prescription?

We process every order through our home base in California, and the Board of Optometry requires that we have a copy of your written prescription from your doctor in order to manufacture your prescription lenses – similar to prescriptions at your local pharmacy or optical office. We also like to double-check that everything is just right before we get your awesome new glasses started!

Why do you need my credit card for the Test Ride program?

All you will pay for this service is the non-prescription frame price, and we cover the shipping to and from you. If you decide that you like the frame and want to order the prescription, just send the frames back to us along with a copy of your prescription and pupil distance and we will make the lenses for you! If you do not like the way the frame fits, looks, or feels on your face, just send the frames back to us for a full refund to your credit card account.
