PolarizedPlus2 Lens Technology
Generally speaking, polarized lenses cut out glare. When light comes down from the sun, it bounces off of reflective objects (like water or a chrome bumper) in horizontal waves. This creates a bright and unpleasant glare. A polarized film reduces this glare to let you see unbothered. Maui Jim sunglasses not only all have amazing polarized technology that cuts out 99.9% of glare, they're also packed with advanced features to help you see in a whole new way!
PolarizedPlus2® lenses increase contrast, color, and depth perception thanks to a patented blend of 3 rare earth elements. These elements enhance reds, greens, and blues. Basically, you still get dark lenses, but they reduce the bad colors while boosting the good ones.
Maui Jim Lens Materials
Maui Jim has 5 main lens materials (plus standard polycarbonate), and we have individual reviews if you'd like to know more. The main types are as follows:

With each lens base, there are also different gradient or mirror options. You have a lot of customization available to you!
The benefits don't stop there. Each Maui Jim lens is also 100% UV protective and HEV blue light protective. Blue light is emitted in small amounts from electronic screens, but a lot more of it comes from the sun and it's very harmful in the long run. And along with the color enhancement we mentioned earlier, Maui Jim puts a really good scratch-resistant coating on the front and back of the lenses as well as hydrophobic and oleophobic coatings. These coatings repel water and oil to keep your sunglasses clean longer and make them easier to clean when you do.
Last but not least, there's also a backside anti-reflective coating. If your sunglasses don't have this, UV light can bounce off the inside of your lens and right into your eyes. With a backside AR, the UV light will pass right through the lens. In addition to being protective, it also makes for a clearer lens! There really is no end to the benefits of Maui Jim lenses.
