There's a lot of protection in their lenses but they also really good scratch-resistant properties as well, and hydrophobic and oleophobic coatings which mean water and oil bead right off the lens. They stay clear a lot longer too, which makes them so much easier to clean. Then on the backside of the frames, Maui Jim sunglasses have an anti-reflective coating that blocks light coming in from behind.
