Originally released in 1985, the Frogskins was Oakley's answer to the need for a lifestyle sunglass. The Eyeshades were released just the year before but it had a very sport-oriented style. Oakley designers hoped the Frogskins would appeal to a wider range of consumers. And it did. The unisex styling and variety of color options made it an instant classic. After a few years of success the Frogskins was phased out in the early 90's but re-released in 2007.
Since the reintroduction, Oakley has designed a few different renditions of the classic frame. All stay true to Oakley roots with some modern twists incorporated throughout. We have the sizing and frame detail of all Frogskins models so you can see the differences between each one.

The Frogskins very much resemble the OG Frogskins released in 1985. However, these have integrated molded hinges and a raised Oakley logo on the temple. The frame is constructed entirely of Oakley's patented nylon-based material, O Matter. This is both lightweight and durable to meet any of your daily needs. The Frogskins Mix put a modern twist on the classic sunglass. The main difference between this model and the original Frogskins is the temple material. Stainless steel temples are coated with Unobtanium around the ears for maximum strength and grip. The frame front follows classic design and material cues with a keyhole nosebridge and O Matter construction.

A semi-rimless frame give the Frogskins Lite a unique look while not straying too far away from the original design. Another distinct feature is the Unobtanium nosepad. Unobtanium is Oakley's patented grip material that gets tackier and sticker the more you sweat. This is the only frame in the Frogskins family that incorporates Unobtanium. The rest of the frame is constructed entirely of O Matter.

Some sources claim the Frogskins Rx to be slightly smaller than the Frogskins but Sunglass Rob measured them to be about the same. The colorways of this frame are designed specifically to compliment clear prescription lenses but at SportRx you can actually get prescription lenses in the Frogskins, Frogskins Mix, and Frogskins XS.
