"Tifosi" is the Italian word for "Super-Fan," and that's exactly what Tifosi Optics is all about. Their sunglasses are designed by athletes who care deeply about their sports and each design reflects those passions. These sunglasses are a good-quality and cost-effective alternative for those who want prescription sunglasses without breaking the bank. Looking for a great pair of running sunglasses to keep up with your jogging commitments? Tifosi's got your back.

What to Look for in Tifosi Running Sunglasses

There are 2 main factors to consider when choosing a great pair of running sunglasses, frame technology and lens technology. We discuss each of those in more detail.

Frame Technology

Coverage: If you're planning to rack up a lot of miles in your sunglasses, definitely go for a wrapped frame. This will block out more sunlight and keep you comfortable even on bright, sunny days. If you've got a higher prescription, you may have to consider a flatter frame. But don't worry too much—SportRx has certified opticians to help with high prescription needs.

Frame Materials: Tifosi's sports frames are all made of Grilamid TR-90, a flexible, durable, and lightweight polymer. These sunglasses will hold their shape even when the temperatures hit extremes and they'll stay comfortable too!

Fit: Make sure your sunglasses are completely comfortable to wear. Even after miles of running, you shouldn't feel any pain or discomfort from frames slipping around or digging into the sides of your head. To help you out, Tifosi uses a hydrophilic rubber in its adjustable nose and temple grips. This rubber will increase its grip the more you sweat.

Lens Technology

Polarization: We'll keep it brief—polarized lenses reduce glare caused by shiny, reflective surfaces. Do you mainly do trail running? In that case, save the polarized lenses for another pair. Polarization can affect depth perception, and you need that to stay on your feet on the trail. But if you prefer to run on the roadside or by the beach, you might find the glare protection handy! Think about where you like to run and how familiar you already are with polarized sunglasses to decide which is best for you.

Lens Materials: Tifosi's sports lenses are polycarbonate, a lightweight and impact-resistant material. You don't want your sunglasses to weigh you down by the second mile, but that's luckily not an issue with true sports sunglasses.

Color Enhancement: Unlike some other sports, the answer to running isn't always contrast. If you're trail running, you should get contrast-enhancing lenses. Amber and Rose tints work the best for these conditions as they help you spot all the details in the trail for quick adjustments to your pace and footing. But if you're more of a road runner (get it?) and you have light-sensitive eyes, you might want to try a darker gray or brown tint.

Some Tifosi sunglasses even have Fototec photochromic lenses that will suit you in most lighting conditions as they transition from a dark tint to a clear lens with less sun (UV) exposure. These lenses are often called transitions. Many more models have interchangeable lenses for the same purpose if you prefer a set tint instead of one that transitions from light to dark.
