When purchasing glasses online, you may need to provide measurements, like your PD and OC, so they can be properly fitted for you. These measurements are vital to ensure you don't experience distortion with your new lenses. But don't worry, it's a simple task! If you're wondering how to find your OC height, you're in the right place! Click here to find out how to measure your PD. Watch as our opticians do a demonstration, read our step-by-step guide, or both, to find out what Tyler and Felix from SportRx have to say about measuring your OC.

What is Ocular Center?

Your ocular center, or OC, is the positioning of your pupils inside your eye that gives you the truest vision. The natural optical center provides the most complete picture of what you're looking at for your brain.

Measuring Your OC Height

To properly measure your ocular height, you'll need a marker, your glasses, and someone to assist you. This person's face should be square with yours to ensure an accurate perspective. As you look straight ahead with your glasses on, they'll need to locate exactly where your pupil is and mark a small horizontal line on the lens at that point, repeating on the other side as well. If you have mirrored or dark lenses, it will be harder to see the pupils through them. You can use the flashlight on your phone, or any other type of light, to illuminate the lens, helping your assistant locate the pupil more easily.

Tyler and Felix's final piece of advice is to put a small piece of tape over the marking on each lens, especially if your lenses have a hydroleophobic coating. This will prevent your measurements from getting rubbed off in transit to our opticians.
