Hi I am interested in the Oakley Flak 2.0 XL Prizm RX sunglasses. Is there a way you can take a look at my prescription to determine whether you can even make my lenses before I purchase the sunglasses? I have a big stigmatism in my left eye... thanks in advance.
Hi Chris! We would absolutely love to help you out! Grab an updated copy of your prescription and run it by one of our certified opticians via live chat or over the phone here: https://www.sportrx.com/contact Thanks for reaching out!
I often ride my bike early in the morning before sunrise and end after the sun comes up. Can you get Prizm with transitions or photo-chromatic lenses so I could wear in low light conditions?
Unfortunately Oakley's Prizm technology is only available in set tints, not photochromic (transition) lenses BUT the Prizm Golf lens has a light enough tint to work in low light conditions. For your needs i would suggest the photochromic option. For more information be sure to reach out to one of our opticians who can assist in answering any questions you may have! 877-789-3633
Correct me, but if you go Rx with Prizm don’t you lose the Prizm etched logo on the lens? I think that’s a really important point that you and other vendors (including Oakley themselves) should make clearer. Even this very page I’m commenting (on whose subject is Rx Prizm) shows the word Prizm right on the lens. I recently learned this the hard way.
That is a very good point! When you're getting Prizm lenses in Rx, you do not get the 'Prizm' etching. We should make that clearer, but - surprisingly - you are the first to shed light on this as a source of confusion. Since prescription lenses are custom-made, they are not a part of the same manufacturing process as the plano (non-prescription) lenses. A similar element lost is the P for polarized. You do get the Oakley O etched into the bottom outside corner of the left lens, which is unique to prescription lenses. My presumption is that what makes the loss of the Prizm etching irksome is that you might feel like you can't be certain that you're getting the Prizm tech. Unfortunately, we don't have a good answer for this. When ordering authentic Oakley prescription lenses, you can verify they're legitimate with the O etching I mentioned, but you can also get the certificate of authenticity. We will make an effort to better communicate that difference between plano and prescription lenses; thank you!
I was recently at my optometrist and found a perfect pair of Oakley sunglasses that I wanted to have the golf lens put into. Only to be told my prescription isn’t within the parameters for those sunglasses. I’m super disappointed and can’t understand why that would be the case. My technician said she has experienced the same thing. It’s like being outside the candy store knowing you can’t buy the candy. Super disappointing
I'm so sorry to hear that! I do want to say, however, though I can't guarantee anything - we have helped people in similar situations before. I have had, on numerous occasions, someone call to say they were told something wasn't possible (even by Oakley directly ) and I was able to make it work. If it is something that Oakley can actually do, we will know! You should reach out to one of our friendly, knowledgeable opticians at (877) 289-2999 and we can tell you for certain what is possible! We would love to hear from you and, hopefully, help get you into those Prizm Golf lenses!
Hi I am looking for prescription lenses for the Oakley RADAR® EV XS (YOUTH FIT) but can't seem to find them anywhere. Is it assumed that people with tiny heads can't have bad eyes?! Or do you have a solution for me?! Thanks
Hi Tom! At this time there is no prescription option available for the Radar EV XS (Youth). This is because two distinct lenses are required for prescription accommodation. The single shield lens design, like that of the Radar EV XS, is only available in plano (non-prescription). The larger Radar EV Path and Oakley Jawbreaker can have two embedded prescription lenses installed into the single shield design through Oakley's authentic labs. But this option is exclusive only to these two models. However, there are many single shield frames that pair with an optical insert that clips in and sits behind the main lens that you may want to consider, like the WileyX Saber Advanced w/ rx-insert. Give our opticians a call for more help and recommendations!
Hey Dani! Unfortunately due to the single shield lens design of the Sutro, it cannot be made to prescription. Two distinct lenses are required to make a set of Rx lenses. You might want to check out the Oakley Jawbreaker or Radar EV Path. Both are single shield designs, like the Sutro, but Oakley in the past has produced embedded Rx lenses into the shield lens.
