Please exducate me on which are the best color of lenses for Tennis. I’m about to spend $800.00 on a prescription set of Flack 2.0 frames n special/specific lenses. I would Greatly Appreciate your help/In put. Thank You. Andres/Andy Guerra, RN
Hello Andres! Oakley PRIZM Field lenses work exceptionally well for tennis. This lens was designed to work in a baseball field environment but many of the colors are similar to those found on a tennis court and it has quickly become popular for tennis too. We also have pre-built SportRx lens packages that feature transition lenses which adapt to the amount of light in a given environment. If you have any additional questions, we have certified opticians on Livechat and on the phones 7 days a week. You can contact us here: https://www.sportrx.com/contact. Thanks for reaching out!
Hi I am also interested in rx glasses for tennis. I preferred the Mercenary to the flak but understand the Mercenary is very limited in the availability of rx lenses. When will the availability be expanded to the sport range? I play in all light conditions sometimes in the afternoon and in to dusk. Would the Field be ok in low light? Regards Pete
Hi Pete! Unfortunately the Mercenary has not been opened up to PRIZM non-polar lens options yet and chances are it may not be any time soon. This is due to the large size of the lens and the limits on PRIZM Sport lenses at Oakley's lab. The good news is that the Flak 2.0 XL will still give you great coverage for tennis. We would recommend PRIZM Trail for playing tennis at dusk because this lens allows more light through than PRIZM Field but it will still give you great contrast-even on the tennis court. That's not to say you can't use PRIZM Field. It will just be more difficult to see when the sun is going down because it is darker. If you would like more recommendations you can always contact one of our certified opticians here: https://www.sportrx.com/contact
Hello i'm also interested in rx glasses. But my problem is I don't know what lens to choose . My daily routine is to use my bicycle for commute summer/winter here in europe.
Hi there! PRIZM Black, Sapphire, and Jade all have a grey base whereas PRIZM Rose Gold, Tungsten, and Ruby has a bronze base. The base color affects how much light gets through the lens to your eyes so a grey base lens will be darker. For your conditions I would recommend choosing a lens in the middle of the spectrum like Jade, Rose Gold or Tungsten. This way it will have you covered in variable weather. If you have more specific questions about which lens to choose you can always contact one of our certified opticians here: https://www.sportrx.com/contact
Hi Andre! PRIZM is a sunglass Lens Technology. You can get PRIZM in rx or non-rx but you cannot get PRIZM in a clear lens. We do offer Oakley Authentic lenses in prescription though! You can contact one of our certified opticians for more information on how to get yourself a pair! https://www.sportrx.com/contact
What would be the difference between looking through the prism black and the prism sapphire lenses? Or is it just an outside coating that makes them have a different outside appearance? To clarify - I'm wondering if the coloring for the user experience would be different - since they both use a gray base. Or would they be the same to look through? Thanks!
Hi Mark! Looking through the lens is very similar. PRIZM black is just a hair darker. The bigger difference here is the aesthetics of the lens from an outside perspective. Hope this helps!
Hi there! PRIZM Black or PRIZM Sapphire are great options because they are darker lenses. We recommend polarized because it will help cut glare and offer more protection!
So disappointed that the Shallow Water Prizm is no longer available in any prescription version. I have purchased them in my prescription the past and the shallow water prizm lens is the best for not only fly fishing but everyday use. I wear them all day long and sometimes even indoors when the tv or computer is too bright. Please bring them back in RX so I can see to fish again!
We are also bummed that Prizm Shallow Water is not available in Rx and really looking forward to when that will change! It has not ever been available in prescription, actually. If you have had something similar made in your prescription, you most likely had the Shallow Blue Iridium Polarized. That is a great alternative and still very much available in prescription! You can always reach out to our friendly, knowledgeable opticians for all the assistance you could ask for at 877-789-3633. Thank you for reaching out!
Are there any prizm polarized lenses that work for golf? I was thinking Ruby since they transmit the most light. Also, I would need these lenses done in a prescription.
Hey Joe! In general, polarization is not recommended for golf. The effect is has on one's depth perception makes it difficult to read the contours of the fairway and greens. If you prefer to use a polarized lens for golf, then we'd suggest choosing one with a rose or bronze base tint that will enhance contrast and definition in your field of view. You're on the right track with the Prizm Ruby Polarized. Some other lenses to consider are The Prizm Tungsten and Sapphire Polarized. Hope this helps!
