Hi Guys - Here’s a specific question to mull over. Because of Fuchs Dystrophy and a couple other rare diseases I’m super photosensitive and losing contrast (but the Fuchs is gone now: my corneas have new transplanted endothelials, and the Doc replaced my lenses!). My sunglasses use is primarily for driving and watching softball tournaments (every other w/e 8-12 hrs/day year round in Texas sun. No shade at all. Really dark black lenses are most comfortable for my photo sensitivity, but what is your opinion about photo chrome vs polarized, ChromaPop vs Prizm, for my contrast difficulties? Thanks for your input!
Hey Carol! Yes, Grey is the best base tint for photosensitivity relief. In the Smith Chromapop line, the sun black lens has the lowest VLT (visible light transmission) and for the Prizm Line it’s the Black Iridium Polarized. Both have an approximate 11% VLT. However you also have the option for SportRx customizable lenses. We can sometimes manipulate the tint to get an even lower VLT percentage and make the lenses very dark by adding additional dyes to the tint mix.
